Hi! I’m Clara. I’m a native Spanish speaker from Spain, a qualified Primary School Teacher and a Spanish teacher currently living in Amsterdam.

Teaching has always been something I genuinely enjoy. I have a degree in Primary Education, specialised in Foreign Languages, as well as specific training in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE). I have also completed different courses related to education, teaching methodology and educational resources, and I have prepared and taken the Primary Education teaching exams in Spain.

I currently teach Spanish to students of different ages and levels. I really enjoy helping people go from understanding Spanish but feeling unsure when speaking, to actually feeling comfortable having a conversation.

My lessons are adapted to each student and their goals. We can work on conversation, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, or everyday Spanish, whether you are learning for travelling, living in Spain, connecting with Spanish-speaking people, or simply because you love the language.

I don’t believe learning Spanish has to mean sitting down and memorising endless lists of vocabulary. I like using real-life situations, conversation, and activities that make the language useful and enjoyable.

And don't worry if you make mistakes! I actually want you to make them — that's how we learn. My goal is to create a relaxed environment where you feel comfortable speaking, asking questions, and trying again.

What is the easiest way to learn Spanish in Amsterdam?

I think the easiest way is to combine regular classes with actually using Spanish in your everyday life.
Amsterdam is a great place to learn a language because you meet people from so many different countries and cultures. In my classes, I focus on giving you the tools and confidence to use Spanish in real situations, rather than only memorising grammar.
Even 1–2 lessons a week, combined with small things like listening to Spanish music or podcasts, watching something in Spanish and trying to use new vocabulary during the week can make a big difference.
The most important thing is consistency and not being afraid of making mistakes. You don't need to wait until your Spanish is perfect to start speaking it!

Is it difficult to learn Spanish in Amsterdam?

Not necessarily! Spanish can be very approachable, especially if you already speak another European language.
Of course, some parts can be challenging (pronunciation, verb conjugations and the difference between some tenses can take time) but you don't need to learn everything at once.
I always recommend focusing first on useful vocabulary and phrases and getting used to speaking from the beginning. Once you start using the language regularly, everything becomes much more natural.
And if something feels difficult, that's completely normal. My job as a teacher is to find a different way of explaining it until it makes sense to you.
