I'm a native Russian speaker originally from Kazakhstan. I lived there until I was 18 and I experienced the Perestroika - meaning I know what it was like before and after the USSR. So much of contemporary Russian identity is enmeshed in these themes, and it is important for any student of Russian to be able to discuss them intelligently. But Russian also has a lighter side; it's a great language for telling jokes in (though they often fall flat in languages where the puns don't work!). I'm also a mother of two kids and love teaching children. Please don't hesitate to reach out!
