Looking forward to helping you start or improve your Romanian journey! I have experience giving private English tutoring lessons to children, helping them improve their vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, and basic grammar. I worked in a supportive and patient way, adapting each lesson to the child’s level and learning pace.
Through this experience, I developed strong communication skills and learned to explain concepts and engagingly, making learning more enjoyable and effective.
Now I apply the same teaching approach to Romanian lessons for foreigners, focusing on clear explanations, practical conversation, and personalized learning.
Learning Romanian in Bucharest can be quite manageable, but it depends on your background and how much you immerse yourself in the language.
For English speakers, Romanian is considered a moderately difficult language because of its grammar (cases, verb conjugations, and articles attached to words). However, it is still a Romance language, so you may notice similarities with Italian, Spanish, or French, which can make vocabulary easier to pick up.
The good part about learning in Bucharest is that you are surrounded by native speakers every day. This helps a lot with listening comprehension and speaking practice. Many younger people also speak English, so you might not be forced to use Romanian all the time, which can slow progress if you don’t actively practice.
Overall, with consistent study and daily exposure, you can start communicating in basic Romanian within a few months, and reach a comfortable conversational level in about 6–12 months.
It’s not extremely difficult, but it does come with some challenges.
Romanian is a Romance language, so if you already speak Italian, Spanish, or French, you’ll recognize a lot of vocabulary. That makes learning easier. However, the grammar can be tricky for beginners because of noun cases, verb conjugations, and word endings that change depending on context.
In Bucharest, the difficulty often depends less on the language itself and more on your environment. You’ll be surrounded by native speakers, which is a big advantage for learning pronunciation and everyday phrases. At the same time, many people speak English, so it can be easy to rely on English instead of practicing Romanian consistently.
Overall, with regular practice and active speaking, Romanian is very learnable in Bucharest, especially if you make an effort to use it daily.
