I believe learning a language is a bit like skydiving: when you trust the experience, you can overcome your fears and truly enjoy the journey. That's exactly how I learned French after moving to the province of Quebec, Canada. I left my shyness behind, accepted that making mistakes is a natural part of the process, and discovered that conversation is one of the best ways to learn.
