I am a passionate language tutor with a special love for Nigerian Pidgin English. I have been speaking Pidgin for as long as I can remember, it is more than just a language to me; it’s a part of my identity, my culture, and my daily life. Over the years, I have come to realize that Pidgin is not only a vibrant and expressive means of communication, but also a powerful cultural bridge that connects people from different backgrounds.
I developed a deep interest in teaching pidgin because I believe that knowledge is most valuable when it is shared. I have always enjoyed helping others understand new concepts, and I take pride in breaking down complex ideas into simple, clear explanations. When it comes to teaching Pidgin, my approach is to make learning both fun and effective. I understand that for many people, learning a new language can be intimidating, especially if they are unfamiliar with its sounds, slang, and cultural nuances. That is why I focus on creating an encouraging and friendly learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and practicing freely.
My teaching style blends structured learning with everyday conversation. I believe that the best way to master Pidgin is to hear it, speak it, and use it in real-life situations. Therefore, my lessons include vocabulary building, pronunciation practice, common expressions, and cultural context. I also include interactive exercises, role-playing, and storytelling to keep lessons lively and memorable. I do not just teach words; I teach students how to “think” in Pidgin, so they can speak naturally and confidently.
I am a patient, understanding, and adaptable teacher. I know that every learner is different, so I tailor my lessons to match each student’s pace, goals, and learning style. Whether my student is a complete beginner or someone who already understands some Pidgin but wants to improve, I make sure each lesson builds on what they already know. I also encourage consistent practice, because language learning is as much about habit as it is about knowledge.
Beyond the language itself, I like to introduce students to the culture behind Pidgin the humor, the proverbs, the music, and even the history that has shaped the way it is spoken today. This not only helps them remember words and phrases more easily but also allows them to truly connect with the heart of the language.
Ultimately, my goal as a Pidgin tutor is to help my students speak well, understand deeply, and enjoy the learning process. I see every lesson as an opportunity to inspire confidence, spark curiosity, and share the beauty of Pidgin with the world. I am excited to work with learners from all walks of life, guiding them step-by-step on their journey to mastering this unique and colorful language.
It is fairly easy to learn pidgin both in Lagos and online, it is a very easy language that keeps you interested and engaged, this enables you learn very fast.
It takes from 3 to 6 months to learn it to perfection including the ascent.
