I have been teaching Nepali to five people since I first came to Abu Dhabi. I have lived in four districts in different regions of Nepal so I am well versed in the local dialects used in most places of the country. What I have seen in most of my clients is that they do learn Nepali pretty easily. From my experience, I can assure you that it could take up to several months if the person is willing to put effort. Learning a language should not only be within the teaching period rather the person should also learn it in a fun way by practicing it daily and interacting regularly.
