Hi!!! I'm Hazmil and I'm from Malaysia. I'm currently studying at a public university in Taipei City. My mother tongue language is Malay. The other language that I use the most is English. I'm currently self learning Mandarin because I live in Taiwan. I do not have any formal teaching experience but I believe that as a native speaker of Malay with fluency in English I'm capable of teaching Malay. Malay that I could teach would be based on Malaysian Malay. As a west Malaysian, specifically from Selangor state, my Malay accent would sound as people who are from this state. Conversational and Modern Malay language is relatively easy to grasp if you're familiar with English as we adopt many English words to our vocabulary. The sentence structure is flexible so there's nothing much to worry about when you first kick start your journey in learning Malay. Knowing Malay would be a good advantage if you want to live for long term in Malay speaking countries such as Malaysia Brunei, Indonesia and of lesser extent in Singapore (Singaporeans mostly speak English I think). Although we don't exactly speak the same way, it's very likely you can understand the variation of Malay in those countries. The other reason you may want to learn Malay could be to learn more about Malay culture or want to make some Malay speaking friends! My course may not be suitable for those who are looking into learning standard Malay as it is difficult and required a qualified teacher to teach it. Hope to hear from you!
