Hello! My name is Mikyung Kim, and I am a professional Korean instructor with 21 years of teaching experience.
I grew up and was educated in South Korea and I've been in Singapore for 14 years. In Korea, I majored in Child & Family and hold a 'Level 2 Childcare Teacher Certification'. While working at a Korean-English preschool, I developed a strong interest in Education and Korean Language as a Foreign Language. This led me to pursue a master's degree and deepen my expertise in Korean as a Foreign Language (KFL). I also hold the official 'Level 2 Korean as a Foreign Language Teacher Certification'.

Over the past 21 years, I have experience in teaching Korean to learners of various nationalities, ranging from young children to adults (Korean-English preschools, International schools in Singapore, and Language schools). These experiences enabled me to design and develop customized teaching materials that address learners' individual needs, goals, and proficiency levels.

My teaching philosophy is to create engaging, learner-centered lessons that help students build confidence and truly speak in Korean. I am able to quickly understand each student’s goals and challenges, and I create customized lesson plans to help them achieve clear, realistic results. Students who study with me learn not only accurate grammar, but also how to communicate naturally and appropriately in Korean, along with cultural understanding.

I teach Korean at all levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners, and also offer lessons in Korean culture. My classes focus on developing practical, real-life speaking skills while integrating listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with a clear and easy-to-understand grammar foundation.
