Welcome to the journey of learning Italian.
My name is Greta, and I am thrilled to help you explore the beauty of the Italian language from the comfort of Reykjavík.
Born and raised in Italy, I’m a native Italian speaker living here in Iceland. I offer a unique perspective that goes beyond standard textbook learning; I bridge the gap between Italian culture and your life here, teaching you not just the language, but the "Italian mindset," our culture, and art.
My approach is highly personalized, recognizing that learning a new language requires empathy, patience, and a supportive space where mistakes are welcomed as part of the process.
My teaching philosophy centers on active, communicative engagement, ensuring lessons are directly relevant to your personal goals, whether you are preparing for a trip to Rome or simply diving into the depths of Italian culture.
Many prospective students often ask about the reality of learning the language. Italian is a phonetic language, meaning it is largely pronounced as it is written, which makes it very accessible for beginners.
While verb conjugations and gendered nouns present a challenge, they follow logical, consistent patterns that we will master together. It isn’t "difficult" so much as it is intricate, and your genuine passion for the culture will serve as your greatest motivation. The most effective way to learn is through active immersion—listening, watching, and speaking from the very first lesson—rather than just memorizing grammar tables. Regarding the time commitment, consistency is key; dedicating 20 to 30 minutes a day is significantly more effective than occasional long study sessions. With this steady approach, many of my students find themselves reaching a confident conversational level within a few months.
If you are ready to start, our first lesson will be focused on assessing your goals and diving into an immersive, enjoyable experience.
We will try to only talk Italian in my lessons.
Let’s embark on this journey together.
