Igbo ndi Oma, Ndewo nu. My name is Ugochi, and I am a native Igbo speaker from Anambra State, Nigeria, currently based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. I grew up in the eastern part of Nigeria, in Umuahia, Abia State, where Igbo is widely spoken in everyday life. Growing up in this environment gave me a strong foundation in the Igbo language, culture and everyday expressions.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Education and have several years of teaching and tutoring experience. I have been teaching Igbo since 2020 and enjoy helping learners develop practical communication skills in a friendly, patient and supportive environment.
Whether you are learning Igbo for the first time, reconnecting with your Igbo heritage, helping your child learn the language of your family, or wanting to communicate more confidently with relatives and friends, I can help you achieve your goal.
My lessons focus on practical speaking, pronunciation, vocabulary, sentence formation and everyday conversations. I also help learners who understand some Igbo but find it difficult to speak confidently. Lessons are adapted to your level, learning goals and pace.
Is Igbo difficult to learn? Like any new language, Igbo becomes easier with regular practice and the right guidance. I believe the easiest way to learn is through a combination of listening, speaking, useful vocabulary and everyday conversation rather than memorising words in isolation. I will guide you step by step and encourage you to practise from the beginning.
For children growing up outside Nigeria, I can make lessons engaging and relatable by incorporating everyday expressions, cultural knowledge and situations they can connect with. My goal is not only to teach the language but also to help learners develop a meaningful connection with Igbo culture and heritage.
How long does it take to learn Igbo? This depends on your starting level, goals and how regularly you practise. With consistent lessons and practice between classes, learners can gradually build vocabulary, understand common expressions and become more confident in everyday conversations.
I offer online Igbo lessons in a relaxed and encouraging environment where you can practise without fear of making mistakes. Whether your goal is to speak Igbo with your parents, grandparents, relatives or children, reconnect with your heritage, or simply learn a beautiful Nigerian language, I would be happy to guide you on your learning journey.
Ndewo nu, and I look forward to helping you learn, speak and enjoy Igbo.
Yes, Igbo can be easy to learn with the right guidance and regular practice. Like any language, it becomes easier when you practise speaking, listening and using everyday expressions consistently. I teach learners step by step, starting with simple words and conversations and gradually building their confidence.
The time varies depending on the learner’s starting level, goals and consistency. With regular lessons and practice, a beginner can start understanding and using simple Igbo expressions and everyday conversations within the first few months. Continued practice will help develop greater fluency and confidence.
