I'm a social sciences student at VUB who misses speaking their mother tongue and is annoyingly good at Hungarian grammar. I would love to help someone who is determined enough to start learning this awfully beautiful and unique language.
Along with different language tasks (written, oral, grammar) I'd like to also show you some examples of Hungarian fun facts, history, culture, literature etc. if you want, I think these can nicely serve as an addition to getting to know a new language.
Some say Hungarian is one of the most difficult languages to learn, and that might be because you've probably never heard of any other language that sounds even remotely similar to it. But once you figure out the basics, you should be good to go! And do not worry, noone will judge you for the mistakes you make - cause people either don't speak the language or are just genuinely happy you even tried learning it.
I guess of course, it would be much faster and (maybe) easier to learn it in Hungary, but it shouldn't be impossible in Brussels either. As long as you're not afraid to start something completely new, it should be just as easy as any other.
There isn't really that much material to learn Hungarian (due to it being not so well-known) and it might not be easy to find the best way for you learn. But then add to that someone who grew up with the language and got plenty of funny sounding words and tongue-twisters to entertain you and grammar rules to tire your brain.
