Hindi is the closest mainstream language to Sanskrit, which is one of the world's ancient languages. Learning to speak Hindi is rather easy than writing it. As the third widest spoken language in the world, it can make your India tour really interesting and way more fun. In my courses, I start with an emphasis on word formation, pronunciation, and then proceed with grammar rules and concentrate on building up the vocabulary with rich synonyms. With just the right effort and concentration, you can master the language enough to converse with anyone from India or other parts of the World who can speak Hindi.
Get in touch with native speakers. Attend Hindi programs. Watch movies, initially with subtitles :)
