Learn Greek with an experienced tutor!

My name is Alexia and I am a native Greek language instructor. I have lived and worked in Athens and Thessaloniki teaching Modern and Ancient Greek to native and non-native speakers since 2007. I am an experienced, friendly, and patient teacher with a strong academic background. I LOVE my students and they love me too!

Qualifications & Experience
I hold a BA in Greek language and history from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a postgraduate diploma in special education and child's psychology from the University of Thessaly, and a master's degree in educational psychology from Nicosia University. In addition, I received a certificate for the teaching of Modern Greek as a foreign/second language from the Greek Language Centre in Thessaloniki.

Through my intensive studies, I identified and developed teaching methods tailored to students’ ages, backgrounds, knowledge levels, cognitive development, emotional intelligence, and learning challenges. My professional expertise and years of experience enable me to create individualized lesson plans that best support each student’s learning style, helping them overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

I have been teaching Greek since 2008 and I must admit that the experience is more than rewarding!! I highly regard the opportunity to transfer my knowledge to people all around the world, through cognitive and emotional interaction!

Teaching Approach
I take a student-centered, interactive teaching approach, with an emphasis on speaking and listening skills. I use concrete examples and real-life situations to help my students understand how the Greek language works and how to apply it to their own experiences. Highly focused, attuned to my student’s needs, and expert in a range of teaching strategies I try at all times to adjust my lessons as necessary to sustain my student’s progress.

About me
In my free time, I enjoy anything that has to do with art, crafts, and photography. I like traveling and being creative. So far I have traveled in many different countries in Western Europe, the Balkans, Africa, South America, and Asia.
