Hi, I am David from Mauritius.
I've been a professional teacher for 7 years. I taught French, English and Maths in Canada for 5 years and English in Japan for the last 2 years. I have a Masters in Education, and hoping to get one in Linguistics in the future.
I love languages and I love teaching. I'm rather energetic and always friendly during lessons as I enjoy talking with people, sharing interests and discovering new things.
When it comes to French, I think it's the most beautiful language, and also the most annoying :P The grammar and pronunciation are indeed quite difficult to master, but luckily, no one needs to be perfect to be able to communicate.
The easiest way to learn would be to get lots of speaking practice with a tutor who is willing to correct your mistakes. A good trick for pronunciation would be to listen and sing along to French songs. That's how I learned Japanese :)
With frequent practice, you could carry a simple conversation in 6-12 months.
I think it would be to regularly meet with a tutor and practice speaking. Learning vocabulary through real situations instead of just a list, and then studying grammar in an engaging way. In Tokyo, it might be easier to deal with people(tutors) than with schools or companies.
It's difficult to learn any language anywhere :) In Tokyo, it's just a matter of finding the right tutor, and putting in the right amount of practice time every week.
