I am a Native French tutor from Mauritius with over 25 years of teaching experience, and I am currently teaching students from as young as 3 years old to young adults. Growing up in Mauritius, a multicultural island where French plays an important role in daily life, education, and media, has given me a deep connection to the language and its cultural richness.
Over the past two and a half decades, I have worked with learners of all ages and levels. This extensive experience has allowed me to develop a flexible, student-centred approach tailored to each stage of development.
For my youngest learners (from age 3), I use play-based and immersive methods that include songs, storytelling, movement, and hands-on activities. At this age, building confidence and creating a joyful environment is essential. I focus on helping children develop listening skills, basic vocabulary, and a natural familiarity with the sounds of French.
With primary and secondary school students, I provide structured lessons that strengthen grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing skills, and oral expression. I guide students in improving their academic performance and preparing for school assessments while ensuring they feel confident speaking French.
For teenagers and young adults, I emphasize fluency, accuracy, and practical communication skills. I help students refine their writing, develop conversational confidence, and achieve their personal or academic goals.
Throughout my 25 years of teaching, I have remained passionate about helping students grow not only in language ability but also in confidence. I believe that learning French should be engaging, encouraging, and meaningful. My goal is to support each learner’s journey with patience, dedication, and professionalism.
Learning French in Singapore is quite achievable and being in a multilingual country makes picking up another language easier.
However, since French isn’t widely spoken locally, you’ll need regular practice to build confidence. With consistent lessons and exposure, most learners can start communicating at a basic level within a few months. 🇫🇷
The difficulty of learning French depends on your background and how much time you practice.
For English speakers, French is considered moderately difficult because of pronunciation, grammar rules, and verb conjugations. The written and spoken forms can also be quite different.
However, French is very learnable. Basic communication can be picked up in a few months with regular practice, especially if you focus on speaking, listening, and simple daily phrases first. Consistency and exposure make a big difference. 🇫🇷I have seen it from my own experience.
