Hi there, I'm Maxime! I've been studying French for 10 years now. I passed with 86% in Matric and just got a second degree pass in French 2A at UCT and have been told my pronunciation is near-native. I love the French language and the intricacies of its grammar and as someone who has lots of experience with learning French as a native English speaker, I know what usually trips up other Anglophones. I have a great interest in Linguistics as well and take great pleasure in explaining the reasons why certain language features are the way they are! So if you or your child is struggling with French grammar or are interested in the nitty-gritty rules of the language, I'd be happy to discuss the details in-depth! This is suitable for anyone taking French as an IEB subject or independently. I am at DELF level B2/C1 and am open to just being a french conversation partner if that's what you need!
French is easy enough to learn the basics of, it's the details that usually trip people up. The most important thing is to immerse yourself in the language and gain practical experience!
French is one of the most similar languages to English and so takes a comparatively small amount of time to learn to fluency, but that doesn't mean you can be fluent without effort. The time to fluency can take anywhere upwards from 2 years.
