Private Finnish Tutor in Hong Kong and Online
Moi (hello in Finnish)! I'm Viivi from Finland. I'm a master's degree graduate living in Hong Kong. I'm a native Finnish speaker with excellent skills in spoken and written Finnish. I'm also fluent in English and have some basic knowledge in a couple of other languages. I have spent most of my life in Finland, besides which I have lived in a couple of other countries for shorter periods of time. I have former experience of tutoring Finnish learners since I attended a Korean-Finnish language exchange group for 3 years in Finland. So I have taught foreign university students Finnish before. I have also worked as a part-time Finnish tutor in Hong Kong for a year now. I would love to share my knowledge on Finnish language and culture with anyone who's interested in Finland. The easiest way to learn real-life Finnish is to study with a native speaker or use some online resources that teach you spoken or informal Finnish. Finnish is the kind of language in which formal and spoken language are very different. Many text books teach you formal Finnish that doesn't help you to understand everyday conversations. So, it's important to learn words, expressions and structures that Finnish people use in everyday life. Besides formal Finnish, I can help you to learn this kind of natural language that you can use confidently in real-life situations.
Is it difficult to learn Finnish in Hong Kong?
Finnish is often listed as one of the most difficult languages to learn. That is partly true since there are many complicated structures in Finnish grammar that make the language difficult to master. However, don't be disheartened! Even if becoming proficient might take a lot of effort, in some ways, Finnish is actually quite easy to learn. You can already make simple conversation and be understood by Finns, if you just learn basic pronunciation and some frequently used words. Those will already get you started, and if you can practice and use Finnish often enough, you will most likely improve quickly.
