I'm a native English speaker, TESOL diploma, TESL Canada certificate, plus a classroom practicum and 4 months experience tutoring Chinese students.
I know from this experience that learning English can be difficult for people raised on other languages. My goal is to help you communicate in English, with an emphasis on real-world interactions. I also teach pronunciation and intonation, so you can sound more fluent.
My background as a historian, writer and journalist gives me the right skills for teaching writing and speaking, also.

Is English easy to learn?
English can be difficult to learn as it has combined elements of several other languages. Every rule has an exception, and the same word can have multiple meanings. It's also stress-timed, unlike many other languages, and it takes work to learn to speak expressively.
Is it difficult to learn English in Vancouver?
Not more so than other places. Most signage is in English (depending on the neighborhood). Food packaging is in English and French, but you'll rarely hear spoken French.
