I am a semi-retired engineer who has been in Russia for over 20 years.
During this time I ran my own company and taught all of my staff to read, write, and speak English.
hen I retired I found I had too much time on my hands so have spent the last 3 years teaching pupils from the age of 4 to 75.
One recent success is an 8-year-old who is not reading Harry Potter after only 2 years of lessons. In the first lesson, she could only just say hello. Another success was a student who needed an IELTS to enter a British University. In 14 months she entered level 4 and obtained a final result of 7.5 with the lowest score of 7. Another success was a school lad about to take his final exams. He went from an average mark of 3 to his final exam result being a 5. This was with one year's assistance twice a week.
My teaching methods are not conventional however, the results I manage to obtain show that the system works.
I advise that all students do homework after each lesson as this is the easiest way to improve their knowledge.
I also do corporate lessons for groups of 4 or more pupils.
If you wish to improve your or your children's English then do not hesitate to contact me.
Learning good English in Moscow is very difficult due to the poor quality of teachers in the language schools and also the lack of native English teachers now in the city.
How much time? How long is a piece of string?
With my students the first lesson is an assesment of their current ability after hich I write the programme for the lessons and assess the amount of time I would expect for them to take to improve thier English to the level they require.
