I am a McGill student majoring in Neuroscience with an English minor. I was born in Canada and I am a native English speaker. In the summer of 2019, I did an internship in Guangzhou where I was an English teacher. I prepared students for the oral and written sections of the IELTS and TOEFL standardized English exams. During my internship, I learned that the best way for students to learn to speaking English is through meaningful conversations with a fluent speaker. Furthermore, I recently published my first book and have plenty of experience writing and editing. I am also an avid reader in my free time. Whether you are looking to improve your writing, critical reading, listening, or speaking skills, I will be capable of helping you. I can also speak conversational mandarin to help with any Chinese students, although the majority of our lessons will be conducted in English as that is the best way to learn.
English, like any other language, can be difficult to learn if you did not start young. However, I know the best way to learn is through immersing yourself in the environment of the language. I give students this experience by having real life conversations.
Montreal can be an especially difficult place to learn English given the large amount of French speakers. However, it is certainly an important language to know in the city.
