Native English speaker and PhD planetary scientist who taught university physics to 5,500+ students in the United States. As someone learning Spanish myself, I know how hard a new language can feel. I break concepts into clear, simple steps. Is English hard? Its grammar is simpler than Spanish (no gendered nouns, easy verb endings); the tricky parts are pronunciation and phrasal verbs, which we practice daily. Speaking every lesson plus short daily habits is the easiest way. Basic conversation: 3–6 months.
Mexico City is one of the best places to learn English. You’re surrounded by it: movies and series in their original version, music, international companies, and a large community of English-speaking visitors and residents in neighborhoods like Roma and Condesa. For Spanish speakers, English grammar is relatively simple, and thousands of words are similar (information/información, important/importante). The real challenges are pronunciation and confidence when speaking. That’s why my lessons focus on real conversation from the first class, so you can start using English in your daily life right away.
It depends on your starting level, your goals, and how much you practice. With 2–3 lessons per week plus a little daily practice, most beginners can handle basic everyday conversations in 3–6 months, communicate comfortably (B1 level) in about a year, and reach professional fluency (B2) in 1.5–2 years. Mexico City makes it faster: you can practice what you learn with English series, podcasts, and real conversations around the city. I’ll give you a clear plan and track your progress so you always know how close you are to your goal.
