(ONLINE LESSONS ONLY) I’ve served as a teaching assistant for two English classes at the Facultad de Filología at UCM and am currently employed as a Auxiliar de Conversación at Colegio Público Soledad Sáinz. I also have tutored English to students in escuela Secundaria obligatory on the side. These experiences have given me insight into the common pitfalls of learning English as well as how to overcome them.
I find language learning to be an incredibly challenging yet gratifying experience. As someone in the process of learning a new language (Spanish), I can relate to students’ frustrations and headaches. I’ve found that language-learning is easiest when combined with preexisting passions—like reading about your favorite sports team in English or watching the English version of your favorite show. Making the language fun and accesible is half the battle.
I think language is best learned through dialogue, which is why I prioritize having conversations with students over worksheets or rote memorization. Let’s chat :)
No. English is an incredibly confusing language that even trips up native speakers.
It could take a lifetime or half a year depending on one’s attitude and drive.
