I'm a TEFL‑certified native English coach based in Macau, and I specialise in helping adults and professionals feel genuinely comfortable speaking English. I don't lecture from a textbook. My sessions are built around real conversation, practical business skills, and the quiet confidence that comes from being able to express yourself clearly.
I come from the business world, not just the classroom. I've run my own bakery, managed client accounts for technology companies, and spent years working in marketing and operations. That means when a student tells me they need English for meetings, emails, or job interviews, I've actually done those things myself. I know the vocabulary, the tone, and the small cultural signals that make communication work in the real world.
I'm also a language learner myself. I've studied Cantonese and Mandarin, so I understand from the inside how vulnerable it feels to speak a new language. That empathy shapes everything I do. I never rush, interrupt, or make someone feel silly for a mistake. Progress happens when you feel safe enough to try, and my first job is to create that safety.
A lot of people ask whether English is difficult to learn. The honest answer is that any language takes time and consistent practice, but it doesn't have to be painful. The easiest way to learn English is to use it regularly in conversations that actually matter to you, like talking about your work, your interests, your daily life, or your goals. When you're engaged with the topic, the language starts to stick naturally. With regular sessions and a little patience, most of my students notice real improvement in their fluency and confidence within a few months.
Every session is built around what the student actually needs. For some, that's casual conversation practice to build fluency. For others, it's polishing business emails, preparing for a specific interview, or learning how to handle small talk with international colleagues. I listen carefully, tailor everything to the individual, and make sure every lesson leaves the student feeling just a little braver than when they arrived.
When I'm not coaching, you'll usually find me weight training or studying languages myself. I'd love to hear about your world, too.
It can be, but not for the reasons people expect. The challenge is that daily life doesn't always force you to use English, so progress depends on creating regular, meaningful practice outside the classroom. As a native English speaker born and raised here, I understand exactly how that environment works. I help students build English into their real lives, not just their textbooks. With the right guidance and consistency, it's absolutely achievable.
It really depends on your starting level, your goals, and how consistently you practice. In Macao, many people speak Cantonese and Mandarin daily, so English doesn't always get reinforced naturally. That means progress often comes down to having regular, focused practice outside of school or work. With a good coach and consistent sessions, most of my students start feeling noticeably more confident within a few months. I make sure every lesson is built around real conversations and practical needs, so the time you spend actually sticks.
