I think the easiest way to learn any language is through conversation. It's important to hear inflections and see the face of the person you're talking to.

I have experience in learning Spanish, and I should learn in conversation because it also demands attention in a way the classroom doesn't.

The worst way to learn English would be from an Italian-speaking person who is teaching you by speaking Italian. I speak Spanish, but not Italian. So it would be impossible for me to switch to Italian if I have something important to say. This means our communication would necessitate and speed up your understanding.
