With 8 years total experience teaching in Thailand and online from Asia, Europe, Africa, my clients have included kids, teens, university students, professionals and ESL teachers! I have taught kindergarten classes, I've run workshops for university staff on collaborative online work and digital toolsets, trained successful teachers and I've managed international academic conferences.
Learning English, or any language, is a challenge (I speak 3 and understand 5, so I should know) but it should be FUN! Learning to laugh at our mistakes, to find humour in the way things are so weird sometimes is key to having fun. Discussing topics of interest is also important, and we will find ways to progress that grow you and challenge you. I tailor my classes to your needs and we discuss anything that you want - from business practice to career counselling, from architecture to quantum mechanics - the possibilities are endless.
The best way to learn a language is to use it regularly (and I stand firmly by the motto of "use it or lose it"). Using our imagination, situational approaches and contextualised discussion, we explore relevant, practical topics in-depth, in a natural way that will enhance communication with other English speakers. Live correction through questioning will enhance your ability to identify and correct your own mistakes. And following the after-class assignments (if you want them) will strengthen the memory retrieval paths and allow you to access what you learn faster to apply in day-to-day situations.
I come from an architectural background (having a 4-year degree and experience working in South Africa) and I got my TEFL certificate in Thailand in 2015 where I taught, tutored and trained for 4 years. I started teaching Chinese students online in 2017, and in 2018, I partnered with a TEFL certification company and have my own consultancy for coaching online teachers. I completed my M.Sc(Ed) at ELTE and my M.Sc(Admin) at Tampere University, Finland, in research and innovation in higher education. I have had the opportunity to train Semmelweis staff on effective group work, and have also managed international academic conferences with nearly 500 participants for the Triple Helix Association (Italy) and the EAIR - The European Higher Education Society, Netherlands where I currently work as a co-ordinator.
I believe that everyone has value to add, and, with the right attitude, we can learn from each other and our circumstances. As we get to know each other, set goals and practice open and honest communication, we will actively find solutions together, and we'll progress at a pace that suits you.
If you're ready to continue your English development journey, if you're willing to commit, and put in the work, then I'm ready to help you.
Are you ready...?
