Online English Lessons
Hello, I’m Emily. I am a UK-qualified teacher with 15 years of teaching experience, and I am also a registered teacher in Hong Kong. I have taught students from kindergarten through to secondary school in both Hong Kong and the UK, giving me a strong understanding of the English learning needs of students in different educational settings.
I specialise in English as an Additional Language (EAL) and literacy development. I have a strong background in helping students build confidence in reading, writing, speaking, and communication skills. My specialist training allows me to identify individual learning needs and provide targeted support to help students make progress.
My qualifications include a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education), TESOL qualification, APC Level 5 Literacy Intervention qualification, and specialist training in areas including Jolly Phonics, Trinity Speaking, Trinity Drama, public speaking, puppetry, and other creative teaching approaches.
I believe that students learn best when lessons are engaging, supportive, and enjoyable. My teaching style is energetic, creative, and encouraging, helping students feel relaxed and confident while developing their English skills. I create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and challenging themselves.
Building strong relationships with my students is very important to me. I want every learner to feel valued and motivated, while helping them develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed in their English learning journey.
I offer both 1:1 and group lessons, with courses tailored to suit each student’s age, ability, goals, and learning needs. Lessons can focus on areas such as phonics, reading, writing, speaking, grammar, vocabulary development, school support, and building overall English confidence.
I look forward to helping students develop their English skills and discover the enjoyment of learning.
Learning English in Hong Kong can be both exciting and challenging. Hong Kong is an international city where students have many opportunities to hear and use English at school, in the community, and through media. However, many students find that improving their English requires regular practice, confidence, and opportunities to communicate with others.
The key to success is creating a supportive learning environment where students can practise speaking, expand their vocabulary, develop strong reading and writing skills, and feel comfortable making mistakes. With the right guidance and consistent practice, students of all ages can make excellent progress in English.
The easiest way to learn English is through regular exposure, meaningful practice, and lessons that are tailored to the student’s individual needs. A combination of reading, speaking, listening, and writing activities helps students develop well-rounded English skills.
For younger learners, building strong foundations through phonics, vocabulary development, storytelling, and confidence-building activities is very effective. For older students, focusing on communication skills, academic English, grammar, and writing strategies can help them succeed at school and beyond.
Having regular opportunities to speak English with a supportive teacher is especially important. When students feel relaxed and encouraged, they become more confident using English and are more willing to participate, ask questions, and learn from their mistakes.
