Understandable and Fun English.

**About me**
I am an American who has taught ESL for 10 years now. I've taught all levels from pre-K through university. I teach with a focus on natural language communication that students can understand.
**Education**
I have a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and psychology with a minor in Asian studies and a doctorate degree in law. I tutored both in university and law school before I began teaching ESL. Additionally, I read and study linguistics research on language teaching to become a better teacher.

**How I Teach**
I work to make lessons interesting to students. I usually teach with stories but can use a textbook if the student prefers. Stories allow us to make classes more fun and interesting. They also provide students with natural language input and often show the culture too. I enjoy making my students laugh. If students laugh, I know that they understand what was said and are having fun.

Most grammar rules have too many exceptions to be useful. I focus on teaching students to use grammar naturally, so they can use the language and think in the language. I will show the grammar rules when helpful, but I then focus on using the language instead of learning 10,000 rules.

**Location**
I have lived in southern Thailand and Hanoi, Vietnam for the last 10 years. I’m currently in Thailand but making plans to return to Hanoi.
