Hi there! My name is Alexys, and I am fluent in English, living right here in New Zealand. I know that learning a new language can be intimidating, so my goal is to create a relaxed, "no-pressure" environment where you can practice speaking without fear of making mistakes. I love meeting new people from different cultures and hearing your stories!
I also understand that in many classes you are only taught textbook language, so when you enter the country or start developing your skills, it can be intimidating, considering the fact that people all around you are saying so many things you were never taught.
How I Can Help You
Our sessions won't feel like a boring school class but more like a coffee catch-up between friends. We will focus on real-world communication that actually matters to you. Whether you want to improve your pronunciation, learn common Kiwi slang, or just get comfortable chatting with your neighbours and colleagues. I am only here to guide you, not pressure you.
What We Will Do Together
In our lessons, we can talk about anything from current events and travel to your favourite hobbies or work life. I’ll listen closely and help you correct your grammar and vocabulary naturally as we go. We can also discuss other words that you can use, as well as when to use them/when not.
If you have specific things you want to work on, like practicing for a job interview or checking a quick email, I am more than happy to help with that too!
I’m looking forward to helping you find your confidence and speak English with ease. Let’s get started. Send me a message, and we can book our first session!
It totally depends on the person and who teaches you. I wouldn't say it’s difficult, because it’s really all about immersing yourself in the environment. Learning any new language is a challenge at first, but with the right support and practice, it becomes much easier over time!
I wouldn't say it's difficult, but if you are coming from another country and have only learnt the textbook version of English, it can definitely feel a little overwhelming at first. The accent, the speed of speech, the way we frame sentences, and the local slang can be a lot to take in! My goal is to help you bridge that gap so you feel right at home.
