I’m Nathan, an English teacher based in Athens, Greece. I’m bilingual (native command of both standard British English and modern Greek), and I have taught English as a second or foreign language to students of many different nationalities for over thirty-five (35) years.

I teach students of any level and in any age group. However, I specialise in English Exam Preparation courses, and I also have substantial experience in Business English tuition.

I was trained in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) at the British Council in Athens and at the University of Exeter in the UK. I am well versed in planning, organising and implementing various EFL and/or training courses, always considering a student’s specific needs and goals as well as their own learning style and special interests. Here’s a rundown of what I offer:

 Expert tuition for English language qualifications, including the Cambridge Suite (A2 Key, B1 Preliminary, B2 First, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency) as well as Michigan University ECCE and ECPE. I boast a high success rate in exam-prep courses (e.g. B2 > 95%,
C2 > 85%)

 IELTS preparation – short courses that guarantee a score higher than 6.5

 Development of your Business English language skills: short courses for senior and junior management officers and working professionals e.g. e-mail & telephone English, English for presentations and/or meetings, tourism & the hospitality industry, and conversational English in Business contexts. I also offer core courses leading to Business Language qualifications: the prestigious Cambridge BEC, levels B2 and C1, for those of you based in China, or the Cambridge Linguaskill Business for those of you living in any other part of the world.

 English immersion courses for young children and teens (aged 6+), with a sole focus on fluency, pronunciation, seamless communication, and cultural exposure, leading to an ESL (English as a Second Language) status at an early age. All done in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate way!

 ESP (English for Specific Purposes) courses. Adopting a CBI (Content-Based Instruction) approach, I use authentic materials and tasks that are relevant to a particular learner’s life and their special interest(s). This is integrated learning, with language and content being taught together, reinforcing each other. For example, you can learn about fashion while also learning the vocabulary and sentence structures used to describe it. This way, you will enhance your language learning experience in a meaningful and personally and / or professionally rewarding way! Just let me know what your area of special interest(s) is (are).

• As a teacher, I am characterised by professionalism, responsibility, thorough preparation, and empathy – I talk to the learner, and I actively listen to them. My strong communication skills invariably build teacher – learner rapport and create a trusting environment for both. Most learners (well, each and every one of them…) appreciate my sense of humour, and they love the convivial atmosphere I create in the virtual classroom, albeit in a well-structured learning environment. I only offer online classes, with expert tuition on Zoom, which means I can teach you English no matter where you live! I use an excellent LM platform to facilitate your learning and day-to-day accomplishment of tasks.

• As a person, I take a particular interest in the visual and the performing arts. I am also a globetrotter, an avid reader, and an aspiring cook.
