Hello! My name is Benjamin. Let me introduce myself.
Having studied both my mother tongue Czech in-depth, together with several different foreign languages, including Hindi, Japanese, German, Dutch and English, I have a lot of compassion for someone, who is struggling to learn a new language. That's also why I have been teaching Czech for more than two years.
I am not interested in textbook drills (unless that is Your goal) but rather give more emphasis on learning useful vocabulary from practical, everyday situations and thus enjoying the lessons way more.
Since all people have different goals and are coming from different backgrounds, I will do my best to adjust the lessons to each student's needs and to understand their learning mindset.
With regular and enjoyable practice, we will achieve our learning goals together. Czech might not be the easiest language to learn, but if we focus at the important, most frequently used words, and set good motivation for ourselves, the process will be much more natural and fun.
- A teacher, who cannot bow to their student, is not a real teacher.
I think it depends on the learner. If somebody is motivated and learns regularly and focusingly, they will do better than someone who does not learn that often. However, I think that Prague is arguably one of the best places in the world to learn Czech, because there are so many authentic opportunities for practicing speaking, reading and listening.
This also depends on the learner, but in a different way. Achieving native-like profficiency, acquiring the ability to read poetry and difficult to read novels might take you years or even decades. This however, doesn't have to be the goal of everyone. If you are only looking to get a basic certificate for your visa or if you simply want to engage in spontaneous conversations with Czech people, achieving your goals might take only a few months.
