My name is Michaela.
I hold a Master's Degree in Teaching Czech and English Languages for Secondary Schools (2009). Also, I hold a Qualified Teacher Status for England (2010). I have over 14 years experience of working in secondary and primary schools in England as a Czech and English Language Tutor, English as an Additional Language Teacher, KS1 Teacher, and Supply Teacher.
I have been teaching Czech as a freelancer since 2011, I worked in the Czech School Without Borders, London, and ACS International School, Hillingdon. Also, I was teaching evening courses for beginners and intermediate students at the Czech Centre in London. I enjoy working both with children and adults.
I am offering one-to-one online lessons. In my sessions for adults, I usually use the New Czech Step-by-Step book as well as lots of additional materials according to the actual needs of students. The focus of the lesson is on all four language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The aim is to teach effective communication in Czech in everyday situations.
For English-speaking children getting ready for their end-of-year exam in Czech in their primary school in the Czech Republic I use various materials and Czech textbooks, eg. for Year 1: Koumak pro prvnaky, Ja a muj svet. I am very passionate about teaching and my lessons are fun.
I am offering a free initial meeting session where student’s needs and learning goals are discussed and a teaching plan is created.
I recommend two lessons per week as a minimum for students who wish to achieve significant results in a short period of time.
The Czech language has a reputation as being a particularly difficult language to learn. However, while it may present some challenges that are not encountered when studying other languages, I believe that an enthusiastic learner can achieve basic proficiency in the Czech language quite easily
