I am Malaysian Chinese, and Mandarin is my mother tongue. I attended Chinese school from a young age and have spoken Mandarin at home throughout my life. I also have experience teaching Chinese to children in Malaysia, which has strengthened my passion for sharing the language. Teaching both Chinese and violin/viola has always been a deep interest of mine, and I find great fulfillment in helping others grow their skills in these areas. Currently, I work full-time as a violist with the Pilsen Philharmonic
Learning Mandarin can seem challenging at first, but with the right approach, it becomes an exciting and rewarding journey. While Mandarin does have unique features like tones and characters, the grammar is relatively straightforward compared to many other languages—there are no tenses, plurals, or complex conjugations! What makes learning Mandarin manageable is having the right guidance and practice. I focus on making the process fun and interactive, using practical examples and methods to help you grasp the language quickly. By building your skills step by step, you’ll find that Chinese isn’t as hard as it seems, and you'll be able to start communicating confidently in no time!
The time it takes to learn Chinese/Mandarin varies depending on your goals, the intensity of your study, and how much time you dedicate to practice. For conversational proficiency, with consistent lessons (2–3 times a week), most students see significant progress within 6–12 months. Achieving fluency or mastering reading and writing Chinese characters will naturally take longer, but steady progress is very possible with dedication.
