I was born in Guangzhou, China, and have lived in Australia for seven years. Mandarin is my mother tongue. I have been teaching Mandarin as a community teacher for three years and have a variety of study materials for my students. I usually tailor unique learning materials for each student to match their different levels of Chinese proficiency, which helps them better immerse themselves in learning the language. A fun aspect of my lessons is that I love to share modern Chinese slang used by young Chinese people and discuss cultural differences with my students.
While recognizing the importance of speaking a language is valuable, it is not enough on its own. Rather than memorizing unfamiliar and tedious vocabulary, it’s essential to make the learning process enjoyable and engaging. Finding fun and creative ways to interact with the language can make learning more effective and truly enjoyable.
I usually start with 5 minutes of listening to Pinyin at the beginning of each lesson, followed by introducing new content, including Chinese slang, vocabulary, and grammar. We then practice speaking on a different topic each week. Additionally, I can tailor the lessons to meet any special requirements you may have.
