Pursuing a Master's degree at KU Leuven Brussels campus at the moment, I am an experienced tutor and used to teach IELTS and economics in China for 2 years with 1-year of mandarin teaching experience.
My best mandarin student is now able to speak the language fluently and read books in the language without any obstacles. He is at the moment working in the Bank of China at a mandarin-required position in London.
Studying this language is definitely a challenge for any foreign student, as the pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar are nothing alike compared with any other main language. The high context of the language also makes it difficult to master.
But don't worry, here is a friendly, experienced tutor trying to help you to tackle all these difficulties. If you can just speak the language (not writing) even at an intermediate level, you already surpass the vast majority of your classmates, colleagues, or peers.
So, come and learn one of the most important languages in the world
It is probably one of the most difficult languages to learn.
It depends on what you goal is.
If you want to speak at a survival level, it maybe take you 5 hours a week or even less to do so.
If you want to speak the language fluently, it can take 12 hours a week for at least one year.
