Private Cambodian Khmer Tutor in Singapore and Online

ONLINE LESSONS - Hello! I am Lorngdy. I am a native Khmer speaker from Siem Reap, Cambodia.

I have had extensive experience in transcribing/translating between English and Khmer for several volunteer positions. I have also taught a student to speak and write in Khmer in two months.

It is difficult for some foreigners to learn Khmer due to the uniqueness in tones and phonation of the SEA languages. Hence, I emphasize the pronunciation of the fundamentals: the alphabets and the simple words. Getting these fundamentals down early on makes the rest of the learning steps much less complicated.

I will customize my lesson plans to match what each student wants. I will provide students with a clear weekly schedule of the upcoming lessons and a brief review of the previous lessons. If the student has limited availability and a specific learning objective, we will work out a convenient schedule that works for both of us.

I would love my class to be fun and interactive. What that means is I encourage students to ask clarifying or tangential questions. You should feel more of a friendly conversation than a lecture or a teacher-to-student dynamics. Additionally, I will provide my students with a list of external resources if they are willing to self-study outside of class.

Even as a native speaker, I find the Khmer grammar particularly unorthodox and sophisticated. Students should expect to receive practical tips that will help them better memorize these grammatical rules. It's important to note that locking these rules into memory takes a lot of time and effort, and I am here to ease that journey.
