Hi! I’m Irina, a native Russian speaker from Saint Petersburg with a degree in Pedagogical Education in Foreign Languages (English) from Herzen State Pedagogical University. I’ve been teaching languages for over three years, primarily English, and for the past year, I’ve been giving private Russian lessons to students at different levels — from complete beginners to conversational learners.
My lessons are friendly, structured, and fully adapted to each student’s goals. I focus on building practical speaking skills while also covering grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation through real-life examples and interactive activities. I explain concepts clearly in English (C1 level), which makes learning especially comfortable for beginners.
Is Russian hard to learn?
Like any language, it can be challenging at first especially the alphabet and cases but with the right approach and consistent practice, it becomes much easier. As your tutor, I’ll guide you step by step and make sure every lesson is both clear and encouraging.
What’s the easiest way to learn Russian?
Start with the basics and practice regularly with a native speaker. Speaking early and often is key! My lessons are designed to help you do just that in a stress-free and supportive environment.
How long does it take to learn Russian?
Everyone progresses at their own pace, but with 1–2 lessons per week and regular practice, you’ll start forming simple sentences and understanding everyday conversations within a few months.
If you're a beginner of any age and want to start your Russian journey with confidence, I’d love to help you!
Learning Russian in Saint Petersburg can be a truly enriching experience. As the cultural capital of Russia, the city offers daily immersion in the language, through conversations with locals, signs, museums, theaters, and everyday life. This constant exposure helps you absorb vocabulary, pronunciation, and expressions naturally.
That said, Russian isn't considered the easiest language for English speakers due to its grammar and alphabet, but learning it in a native-speaking environment like Saint Petersburg makes the process much more effective and engaging. With motivation, regular practice, and guidance from a tutor, progress can be surprisingly fast.
