For beginners at Japanese!

Private Japanese Tutor in Vancouver and Online

Hi, I'm Noah! Thank you for visiting my page :)

If you're looking for opportunities to have authentic conversations with a native Japanese speaker but aren't confident enough to dive into Japanese-only conversations, don't worry! I'll be here to support you.
I've been living in English-speaking countries for over five years (and counting) and hold a highly distinct certificate—Cambridge English Assessment CAE—so don't worry too much about your Japanese! I'll help you in English and Japanese! :)

[About Class]
- Conversation is at the core of language.
My class is conversational, as I prioritize helping you improve your "authentic conversational skills," which is the main framework of language.
Time is precious, and you shouldn't waste your time in class just studying grammar, which can be learned through self-study.
I encourage you to take this class as an opportunity to practice the phrases, grammar, or idioms you’ve learned in real conversations with me :)

- You choose what you want to learn through this class.
I will prepare the class based on what you want to learn more about (daily conversation, business Japanese, etc.), so the class will be completely tailored to your goals.

〈Schedule〉
Total Time: 60 mins

Recap from the Previous Session / [For the first time] Self-introduction (15 mins)
We'll go over the phrases or grammar we learned in the previous class.
(For the first time)
Let's get to know each other! We'll talk about what you’d like to study in this class and your goals—feel free to share in either Japanese or English.
★No pressure! :)

Let's Converse! (15 mins)
During this time, we’ll focus on correcting any grammatical errors and improving your vocabulary, along with using phrases or words that make your speech clearer, smoother, and more natural.
★Don't worry :) I won't stop you each time you make a grammatical error.

Reflection and Learn New Phrases! (15 mins)
I’ll share feedback from our conversation in Let's Converse!, introduce new vocabulary and phrases for you to use, and help you practice them in conversation.

Free Flow Conversations (Open Talk) [Very important] (15 mins)
You can talk about anything that comes to your mind!
At this time, there will be no grammatical corrections. Focus on the natural flow of conversation. This is a crucial part of making Japanese native-speaker friends! Fluency and having natural conversations without constantly worrying about grammar are key!
★If you are not confident enough to hold a conversation, no worries at all! :)
You can use this time to ask questions about the meaning of phrases you learned, or you can ask me about Japanese culture :)

As you might know, the Japanese language is diametrically opposite to English linguistically, which means the Japanese language is very hard to get the hang of for native English speakers, and vice versa.
Having obtained a high-level English certificate with a massive effort, I'm sure that my experiences in learning English will be of use to you as well.
