Hello, my name is Rob Kooy and I am a tutor based in Perth, Western Australia. My area is Japanese speaking but am also qualified in English language tutoring. I have been to Japan six times and have spent some time studying at Kanazawa University in Japan so understand the pressures in being in an Asian learning environment. I also have a disability and was born with cerebral palsy but this has never been a problem for me and I have been able to travel to other countries and meet many other people from different cultures.
I am a very patient teacher and will gently guide you through your own work and can tailor your work to your specific level. I am able to work with any age group, but I am most capable with teenagers and adults as I am a big believer in autonomous learning which means I am able to assist you through your work or from your own textbooks.
My tutoring experience has been primarily with people online, helping them with their english written and verbal communication. This includes writing emails, personal communications, and helping with grammar and vocabulary in everyday situations. I have also guided students through their IELTS. I am a fluent Japanese speaker and hope to help others learning English and Japanese. My teaching style is through PowerPoint presentations.
As Perth is a predominantly English speaking city, the best way to learn English in Perth is to interact with others. There is also online learning, language exchange groups, or private face-to-face meetings.
No, as there are many resources, groups and teachers to link in with to make sure your english learning experience, whilst you are living in Australia, is a comfortable one.
