Japan is a popular country among people from other countries and has a wonderful culture, beautiful places in each season, and delicious food. I am proud to be Japanese, and I want you to like Japan as much as I do. Unfortunately, however, only some of the popular tourist destinations are written in English, and it is said that only about 10% of Japanese people can speak English.
In fact, we often see people who come to Japan from abroad having a hard time communicating in English as they are not as fluent as they thought they would be. Therefore, if you can speak Japanese, I am sure that you will feel more comfortable and enjoy your stay in Japan.
Japanese has hiragana, katakana, kanji, accents, honorifics, abbreviations, etc., and is said to be a difficult language to understand, but if you learn through what you like or are interested in, you will improve quickly and be able to communicate even if it is not perfect!
