I'm 22 and I'm attending the third year of a psychology bachelor's degree. I have a lot of experience in tutoring (I'm in the field from when I was 17) and I have a diploma in classical languages and literature, a diploma that allows me to make connections between Italian, Latin, and ancient Greek. When I teach, I focus on the student, in order to understand if he/she has the topic clear in his/her mind. I'm also convinced that a theoretical explanation is not enough, so I suggest to the students a lot of works (movies, books, songs...) In order to strengthen their knowledge of the language.
I think that learn Italian from a native speaker could be a big boost to understand the language, especially I think that also knowing the Italian culture from an Italian could give more vivacity and interest to the learning of the language
It depends on the student; it depends on his/her dedication and time spent on the language. However, starting from scratch, I think that some months are enough to learn the language on a basic level, but, as with every language, to reach a very high level requires years of practicing
