I'm a qualified teacher with a Master of Science degree from the University of Helsinki. I also have a Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in the English language and I'm fully qualified to teach international students. I have almost 30 years of experience teaching both at the secondary and upper secondary (high school) levels, both in Finnish and English. My main subjects are geography and biology but I have experience in teaching natural sciences, history, and language.
I prefer teaching spoken everyday language. Finnish grammar is very complicated but mastering it does not need to be understood.

Is Finnish easy to learn?
I think Finnish is not harder to learn than any other language if there is motivation to learn. Subjecting oneself to using the language as much as possible is crucial.
How much time does it take to learn Finnish in Helsinki?
It takes a couple of hours a week for 4 weeks to learn the basics of Finnish. Mastering the language requires at least 20 hours a week for several months.
