I am a software engineer by profession, and I came to Australia to work in that field. Nonetheless, since the way I found to come here was through a student visa, it has been hard to find a job and I am looking for different jobs. And teaching Portuguese was my first thought :)
I am a native speaker of Portuguese, the original one, not a different version of it :p Moreover, I have had a vast experience in volunteering, which allowed me to develop a wide range of soft skills, which I believe are essential when dealing with other people, namely students. A good example of how I put in practice these skills was when I started a free walking tour in Angoulême, France, during the last months I lived there : https://www.facebook.com/AngoulemeFreeTour
In my classes I will use as much as possible methods of non-formal education. While at University, I have attended a lot of European-wide projects, that aim to foster, among other things, non-formal education. These kind of methods are being more and more used throughout the world for teaching kids, with enormous results (Finland is the best example of that).
Therefore, in my classes, expect a lot of quizzes and games, scripted role plays, songs, videos and games. Each student will have an online student passport to record daily achievements, and students will be rewarded often. At least online :p
Looking forward to teaching you :)
