I'm a native Italian speaker and I also speak English at an almost native speaker level. English is the language I use the most every day, at home, at work, and with friends... that is also one of the reasons why I would be eager to help you with your Italian! In the past, I used to help classmates and friends studying Italian with their homework and tests. That has taught me how often the speaking part is the one most neglected. This does not mean that grammar is not important, quite the opposite, but I do firmly believe in the power of communication, even if full of mistakes!
I'd, therefore, put a particular emphasis on your speaking skills, idioms, different ways of saying, anything to make you actually do the big step!
Parla! Find yourself a tutor, preferably a native speaker and just speak with them... there's just so many of us in Brussels 😄
There's no straight answer to that! Italian is certainly easier for everyone with a romance language background, but anyone can do it! you just have to stick to it! Believe me, I am learning Arabic so I do understand the struggle ;)
