I've been living in the UK for 6 years, and have studied for four years in London. I've completed a course in graphic and communication design, where I had to use all skills available to me to pass information and communicate ideas and concepts through different mediums.
As I've completely immersed myself here, I've mastered very good English skills.
I was also very much involved in the teaching system during my course, and been offered a teaching assistant position to help other students.
I'm a very patient person, ready to adapt lessons depending on how best you'd rather learn French.
If practiced regularly then it should not be much of an issue.
Time depends on how regularly you train yourself, learning a new language is also self teaching, looking into french culture, setting yourself objectives, talking frequently.
