I'm Chris, a native Frenchman who lives in beautiful New Zealand.
Becoming a language private tutor was born out of a few key experiences of mine. In a nutshell, having studied various languages myself and having worked as a Project Manager alongside professionals who spoke various native languages made me realise:
1/ how critical using clear and concise communication is
2/ how practical and fun learning can go a long way compared to traditional, theory-heavy lessons
3/ how spending the time to properly understand some key details about how a language works can fast track your path from hesitant mumbling to confident expression and communication
Like many, I started learning foreign languages at school. And later, language schools.
While I did get some valuable knowledge out of it, I found the 'one program fits all' approach frustrating and limiting. In the end, before I could reach my targeted level of proficiency I had no other choice but to search for other ways of learning; Ones that worked best for me.
Based on the above, my approach to teaching French is focused on
1/ understanding my student's specific interests and needs
2/ continuously adapting their learning roadmap to those interests and needs
3/ having fun while learning. 'Never a dull lesson' is a principle I value deeply
Helping people gain confidence in using French is a true passion of mine. Receiving feedback from my students telling me that our sessions are really helpful because they are truly customised to their needs is the greatest reward, and a fantastic source of motivation for me.
