I have been teaching and tutoring different languages for different ages and backgrounds people for more than 7 years. I try to find the best approach that suits every individual student of mine to make most of our time and effort together.
The Estonian language is a challenge, but the more you use it the better it becomes. It was easy to pronounce and easy to use. Even though grammar may seem difficult at first, don't think about the grammar and just do your best. Local people appreciate the effort and you will be easily understood!
It is easier to learn if you surround yourself with the language as many different ways as possible. Be it music, films or talking with local people.
I would say a year with steady approach will help you reach to basic conversion level.
