I am from the United Kingdom, specifically England. I have worked as an English teacher in Spain for two years and in China for 11. I speak fluent English, Spanish and I am currently studying the Chinese language proficiency test HSK 5. I am TEFL certified. I am both a language teacher and student which helps give me the best insight into how to learn and maintain language proficiency. Language is deeply embedded in culture thus learning a language requires a study of culture in order to understand the reason behind its construction.
English is quite easy to learn compared to other languages. It has simple grammar and it is easy to be understood even if you have an accent and or don't use the correct grammar. Having said that, English is difficult to pronounce correctly and it also has some strange spelling conventions.
Time should not be the focus of learning a language. What should be the focus is how comfortable you are with a certain amount of time. If you want to rush through learning English it may hinder you more than help. It is better to take just a few hours a day until you are comfortable.
