My name is Jessica, I live in KwaZulu-Natal. My family has always been so supportive of my decision of being an au pair, Teacher, and for traveling to other countries.
I have been an au pair in California where I looked after triplets age 2, It was an amazing experience because every day I would walk with the kids to the park, we baked biscuits, painted, made clay handprints and we went to Disney Land. Every day was a new adventure with the children. I would change diapers and potty train the triplets prepare meals, bathe and dress the children, every Saturday would clean the house as a family, load and unload the dishwasher, make bottles for the children before bed, prepare activities for the children, and I to do every day.
I have also been to Saudi Arabia where I was an English tutor for a younger boy and an au pair for his young sister. Abdullah was 7 years old and his sister was 2 years old. Saudi Arabia was a huge culture shock because of the language barrier but I was very excited to learn about how they live and their religion. The young boy was an amazing child to tutor because he was extremely smart. Part of my duties was to make sure he was up early every day for school and prayer on Friday, I would go with the driver to take a young boy to school and on outings, we had play dates with school friends and their cousins, I had to monitor his screen time every day, I had to make sure they ate healthy food, I bathed and dressed him and his sister. Saudi Arabia was a great experience and I loved it.
I was an English teacher in China. I was teaching basic English to young children ages 3 - 15 years old. It was also a huge culture shock because of the different food and the language barrier. I met amazing people and I really enjoyed my job so much, everyone was so welcoming and friendly towards me which made it so much easier.
I have my au pair, child care, first aid TEFL courses. I am studying for my ECD level 5 diploma and I would like to do my degree one day.
Looking after children have always been my passion for as long as I could remember, being an au pair helps me save towards my future and my goals.
Why a family should pick me is because I believe that our children of today with the help of us adults to help shape their bright minds and give our children unconditional love and support, our children can do whatever they set their minds on. The sky is not the limit. Thank you so much.
