I was born and schooled in Cape Town, and graduated at the University of Cape Town as a high school teacher (English and History my two main teaching subjects). After a year of travelling around Europe, I notched up my longest teaching service at The South African College High School (the oldest school in the country!) in Cape Town.
Teaching was great – but after 14 years in the game, I grew restless. In school holidays over the years, I had set off in the 4 X 4 and “discovered” most of South and southern Africa. And so I began to think – what about doing this as a living? I he qualified as a National Tour Guide in South Africa in 1997, and have since then led many tours around South Africa and our neighbouring countries – Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Lesotho and Swaziland.
With the collapse of tourism as a result of the COVID-pandemic, I am looking to return to my roots, as it were!
My interests are reading, hiking, gardening, birding and travelling.
