Hi! I'm Calypso:) I am currently studying for my bachelor's degree in Amsterdam. My mother tongue is English, and I was educated in English from the age of 11. I speak English with received pronunciation (a fully British accent). I have 2 years of experience in tutoring people of a wide age range, including children from the age of 9. Furthermore, I have spent 1-year tutoring high school students on public speaking and presentation skills. I am open to working both in-person (anywhere in Amsterdam or Diemen) as well as online. If required, we can exchange in French, German, or Dutch. I will tailor my tutoring according to your own interests and your own proficiency. All levels from A1 to C2 are welcome. I offer learning activities such as guided reading, song learning, mock debates, literary analysis, and much more. I also help with grammar, spelling, and pronunciation. Looking forward to working with you!
The easiest way to learn English in Amsterdam is to interact with native speakers.
Learning any language is about committing to working every day. Amsterdam has a large international community, with residents and tourists who all speak a high level of English. By doing regular exercises, you can improve your English skills within a matter of months. Practising individually with a native speaking tutor will give you high chances of acing a job interview that requires English speakers, or more confidence to venture into the city centre and strike up a conversation with a tourist at a local restaurant.
